Originally, Altenburg Construction was operational at Andy’s home farm, out of a barn converted to meet needs. In 2010, Andy purchased a building in Lewisville, MN, and moved the operation there where the home office is currently located. A few years after being in Lewisville, Andy added a shop in 2015 with the offices and mechanics shop following. In February of 2017, life threw an unexpected curveball at Andy where they discovered he had Bile Duct Cancer. In March, he began Chemotherapy and Radiation, followed by needing a liver transplant on June 15th. Due to the nature of the treatment and illness, Andy ended up needing a second liver transplant on August 9th. After his second liver transplant in late August, he was helicoptered to Rochester, MN with a Bile leak and his body was going septic. Andy had a long road to recovery, but he was able to get back to his hobby of racing stock cars on a dirt track. He was able to enter his first race back in March 2018 at Beatrice, Nebraska.
During this time, Tyler Sauck stepped in and helped take Altenburg Construction to the next level while bringing a new perspective to the operations. Andy and Tyler hope to emulate what they have established in Lewisville down in Zearing, Iowa.
